Avon Apartments May Attract Health-Conscious Renters

If you enjoy outdoor activities, Avon is a great place to live – within seven miles of the town center are 30 parks and five golf courses. And thanks to a town-wide smoking ban, you don’t have to worry about smoke wafting your way when you’re outside enjoying nature. These are some of the many reasons active, health-conscious people enjoy living here.

Most of the town’s residents are homeowners, but many people are not interested in the additional responsibilities that come with owning and maintaining a home. Builders of new apartments in Avon, Indiana are providing a place for residents who want a healthy suburban life but the no-maintenance lifestyle of apartment living.

The Major Parks

Of the many parks in Avon, the two largest are Avon Town Hall Park, at 83 acres, and Washington Township Park, at 142 acres. These parks have a variety of activities and events year-round. A section of trail connects the two major parks and intersects White Lick Creek Trail, which will eventually connect Avon, Plainfield, and Brownsburg.

Washington Township Park has about five miles of paved trails, a fitness station, horseshoe pits, a sand volleyball court, basketball court, a dog park (with three separate fenced areas), and an amphitheater that hosts summer concerts.

Avon Town Hall Park has an 18-hole disc golf course, outdoor ping-pong tables, a bocce ball court, and two miles of paved trail. The park also shows outdoor movies in the summer.

Other Attractions

Avon is the first town in the United States that has a synthetic ice rink with bumper cars. The ice rink closes for the season in January, but Avon’s indoor roller rink is open year-round.

Avon is also home to Burnett Woods Nature Preserve, the only nature preserve in Hendricks County. In the spring, visitors walking or running the 1.7-mile trail through the woods can see an array of wildflowers.

People who live in apartments in Avon may be glad they don’t have yards to take care of, yet they may wish they had a garden. They have that opportunity at Root 36, the Avon community garden.

Root 36 is on Satori Parkway, just east of the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA. The garden’s 8-by-12 raised beds offer 96 square feet of growing space, which is generally enough space for feeding one person.
